Om 22.22 uur heeft er een automatische blussing plaatsgevonden in BIT-2D. Op dit moment wordt er een inspectie uitgevoerd door de aanwezige brandweer in samenwerking met datacenterbeheerders van BIT. De blussing heeft geen invloed gehad op de beschikbaarheid van de koeling en de stroomvoorziening van BIT-2D.
Als gevolg van de blussing zijn de flessen met blusgas voor BIT-2D nu leeg, waardoor er niet automatisch geblust kan worden. Acties om deze te hervullen worden direct in gang gezet. Tot het moment dat de blusflessen hervuld zijn zal personeel aanwezig blijven om met handblussers te kunnen blussen als er opnieuw brand gedetecteerd zou worden. BIT-2B en BIT-2C hebben eigen flessen met blusgas, daar kan dus wel automatisch geblust worden in het geval van calamiteiten.
Zodra er meer bekend is over de oorzaak van deze blussing zal deze melding aangevuld worden.
Update geplaatst om 23:02 De brandweer heeft de ruimte geïnspecteerd en de ruimte wordt nu ontdaan van blusgas zodat het zuurstofniveau weer op peil komt. Zodra de ruimte door de brandweer wordt vrijgegeven zullen medewerkers van BIT de apparatuur in BIT-2D nalopen.

Update geplaatst om 23:39 De vermoedelijke oorzaak van de brandblussing is een server van een klant. Er is contact met die klant zodat de server nader geïnspecteerd kan worden. Daarnaast is er contact met de blusgasleverancier voor het vullen van de installatie.
Update geplaatst om 01:40 De brandmelding met daaropvolgend blussing is met zekerheid veroorzaakt door kortsluiting in een voeding van een server van een klant. De leverancier van de blusgasinstallatie is onderweg voor het loskoppelen van de blusgasflessen. In de ochtend zullen de flessen op een externe locatie weer afgevuld worden.
Zolang de automatische blusgasinstallatie voor BIT-2D nog niet actief is, blijft dit incident actief en 'open' op onze site. De brandmeldinstallatie is in bedrijf en medewerkers van BIT blijven op locatie. Bij een nieuwe, niet te verwachten, brandmelding zullen deze medewerkers handblusmiddelen inzetten.
Update geplaatst om 11:30 Afgelopen nacht zijn wij bezig geweest om de blusgasflessen los te koppelen van de gasblusinstallatie en klaar te zetten voor transport. De partij die de blusgasflessen gaat vullen is inmiddels hier geweest met een vrachtwagen om deze gasflessen op te halen. We verwachten de gevulde blusgasflessen in de avond terug, een exact tijdstip is nog onduidelijk.

Update geplaatst op 17-10-2019 02.41 De cilinders met blusgas zijn weer teruggeplaatst, in de monitoringsystemen opgenomen en gekoppeld aan de brandmeldinstallatie. Het systeem is daarmee weer in normaal bedrijf genomen.

At 22h22 the fire detection system in BIT-2D automatically triggered the fire suppression system. At this moment firemen are doing an inspection of BIT-2D together with BIT datacenter engineers. The activation of the fire suppresion system did not affect the availability of cooling and power in BIT-2D.
As a result of the activation, the gas cilinders for fire suppression of BIT-2D have been emptied. Actions have been taken to refill these as quick as possible. Until these cilinders have been refilled, BIT personnel will remain on premise to extinguish any fires manually should the fire detection system alert them. BIT-2B and BIT-2C have their own set of cilinders available.
This item will be updated as soon as we have more information on the cause.
Update placed at 23.05 The fire department has inspected the server room and has given way for BIT to access the server room. Engineers of BIT are now inspecting the equipment.
Update placed at 23.42 The cause for the triggered fire suppression system is most likely a customer's server. This customer has been contacted and they are on their way so we can jointly inspect this machine. Furthermore we have contacted the supplier of the argonite for refilling the installation.
Update placed at 01:48 The fire detection system followed by the fire suppression system were triggered by a defective power supply in a server of a customer. Inspection of the equipment in the server room has concluded this. The supplier of the fire suppression system is on his way to disconnect the argonite cylinders. These cylinders will be refilled off site in the morning.
As long as the automatic fire suppression system for BIT-2D is not active, this incident will stay 'open' on our website. The fire detection system is in business and employees of BIT will stay on location. In the not-to-be-expected event of a new fire in BIT-2D these employees will use manual fire extinguishers.
Update placed at 11:30 Last night we have been busy disconnecting the cylinders from the system and make them ready for transport. De firm that will fill the cylinders has already been here with a truck to pickup the cylinders. We expect the filled back this evening, the exact moment is not clear yet.
