Als gevolg van een verstoring op ons CephFS cluster is de IMAP email dienst verstoord. CephFS staat het verwijderen van bestanden niet meer toe. Als gevolg hiervan worden nieuwe emails niet getoond in mailclients en kunnen emails niet verwijderd worden. Nieuwe emails worden wel ontvangen. Omdat de verstoring CephFS gerelateerd is, is er mogelijk meer impact op diensten dan nu bekend is. Engineers hebben het probleem in onderzoek en zodra er meer bekend is wordt dit incident geüpdatet.
Update geplaatst om 21.45 Een oplossing voor het probleem lijkt gevonden en wordt momenteel uitgerold over het cluster.
Update geplaatst om 22.03 De wijziging heeft inderdaad de verstoring opgelost. Het aantal 'stray entries' op het cluster liep snel op en raakte een ingestelde limiet. Strays zijn verwijzingen naar bestanden die verwijderd zijn en bestanden die nog verwijderd moeten worden. Het hoog oplopen van die strays houdt verband met migratie van een groot aantal files het cluster in.

An issue on our CephFS cluster impacts the IMAP email services. CephFS does not allow the removal op files. As a result new emails might not show up in mailclients and emails cannot be deleted. New emails are received though. Because the incident is CephFS related more impact on other services might be possible. Engineers are investigating the incident and this notice will be updated as soon as more info becomes available.
Update placed at 21:45 The problem is identified and a possible solution is being deployed at the moment.
Update placed at 22:10 The deployed change has resolved the incident. The number of 'stray entries' on the cluster was growing very fast and hitted a set limit. Strays are pointer to files that have been deleted or files that will be deleted. The increase of strays was caused by a migration of a large number of files into the cluster.
