Enkele minuten geleden is de blusinstallatie van de colocatieruimte in BIT-1 geactiveerd. Vermoedelijk zijn werkzaamheden in een andere ruimte de aanleiding van deze activatie geweest. Engineers zijn op dit moment aanwezig om de ruimte te controleren. Meer informatie zal aan dit bericht toegevoegd worden zodra dit bekend is.
Update geplaatst om 13.35 uur De oorzaak van de blussing is in ieder geval geen brand in de serverruimte.
Update geplaatst om 13.38 uur De temperatuur in de ruimte is tijdelijk met een aantal graden gedaald. Inmiddels is de temperatuur weer op normaal niveau.
Update geplaatst om 14.04 uur Tijdens de blussing is er een stikstof-argonmengsel onder hoge druk de ruimte in geblazen. Als er vuur geweest zou zijn, zou deze gedoofd zijn door het verlagen van de zuurstof in de ruimte. De stroom- en koelinfrastructuur blijft tijdens een blussing actief en beschikbaar. Tijdens de blussing daalt de temperatuur kortstondig in de ruimte en zorgt de verhoogde luchtdruk voor trillingen. Deze gevolgen hebben in de regel geen invloed op apparatuur. Mocht u desalniettemin problemen met uw apparatuur neem dan direct contact met ons op.
Update geplaatst om 14.19 uur De leverancier van de blusmiddelen is onderweg om de gasflessen op te halen en opnieuw te vullen. In de tussenliggende periode blijft het branddetectiesysteem actief en zullen medewerkers op locatie aanwezig blijven. In het onwaarschijnlijke geval dat er brand uit zou breken in deze periode, zal de brand door BIT-medewerkers met de hand geblust worden. Deze storing blijft open totdat de blusinstallatie weer volledig in gebruik is.

De flessen met blusgas zijn gevuld en weer aangesloten. De blusinstallatie is weer volledig in gebruik.

A few minutes ago the fire suppression system in BIT-1 was activated. We suspect this was caused my maintenance which was being performed in another room. Engineers are on site inspecting the datacenter. More information will be added to this post when available.
Update placed at 13:36h The cause of the activation of the fire suppression is not fire in the server room.
Update placed at 13:40h The temperature in the server room temporarily dropped slightly by several degrees but is at normal levels now.
Update placed at 14:05h During fire suppression a nitrogen-argon mixture is blowen in the server room. If there would have been any fire, the fire would have extinguished because of a lack of oxygen. The power and cooling infrastructure is active and available during a fire suppression. During the suppression the temperature drops temporarily and increased air pressure causes small vibrations. As a rule these results do not harm any equipment. In case you do notice a problem with your equipment, please contact us.
Update placed at 14:24h The supplier of the suppression materials is on his way to collect the gas bottles and refill them. In that period the fire detection system stays active and BIT employees will stay on location. In the unlikely event that there is a fire, the fire will be extinguished by BIT employees using manual fire suppression systems. This inicident will stay open untill the automatic fire suppression system is fully operational again.
